HOOK A STITCH: STAGGERED SHELLS COLUMN STITCH

Learning a new crochet stitch or technique is always such fun, don’t you agree?  I am so happy to introduce to to the new post series 'Hook A Stitch', where I will be sharing fun stitches to get you hooking!

To kick off this new series I will be sharing the staggered shells column stitch; a combination of shells and double crochet stitches, making it ideal for a blanket!

Make it

Abbreviations

st(s) – stitch(es)

sk –skip

rep – repeat

ch – chain stitch

dc – double crochet

Shell – [4 dc, ch 2, dc]

Foundation

Chain multiple of 10 sts +8. 

Notes

Ch 3 at beg of Row counts as dc.

Pattern

Row 1: Ch 3, dc in 4th ch from hook, *sk next ch, shell in next ch, sk next 3 chs**, dc in each of the next 5 chs, rep from *across ending at **, dc in each of the last 2 chs, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, dc in next dc, *shell in next ch-2 sp of next shell, sk next 4 dc**, dc in each of the next 5 dc, rep from * across ending at **, dc in next dc, dc in top of beg ch 3, turn.
