{Amigurumi Greg the Crab Monster}

Meet Greg the Crab Monster! Greg was born totally by accident! I was making an orange colored monster amigurumi when  my friend said it reminded him of a crab. So I altered my original pattern and made him resemble a crab monster! the tricky part was to design his arms but I think I mastered it after all. :)

MATERIALS

• yarn in orange and white 
• 3.5 mm (E) crochet hook 
• Yarn needle
• Fiberfill
• 12mm amigurumi eyes 
• Stitch marker (optional)

THE PATTERN
Body
With orange,
R1: Ch 2 then make 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)
R2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)
R3: 1 sc , 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (18)
R4: 2 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (24)
R5: 3 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (30)
R6: 4 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (36)
R7: 5 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (42)
R8: 6 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (48)

R9-23: sc in each stitch around (48)

R24: 1 dec, 6 sc, repeat 6 times (42)

R25: 1 dec, 5 sc, repeat 6 times (36)
R26: 1 dec, 4 sc, repeat 6 times (30)
R27: 1 dec, 3 sc, repeat 6 times (24)
R28: 1 dec, 2 sc, repeat 6 times (18)

Finish off and fasten off. Before closing remember to stuff firmly.

Eyes 

For the round eye, using white, all st are worked only tbl
R1: Ch 2 then make 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)
R2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)
R3: 1 sc , 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (18)
R4: 2 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (24)
R5-7: sc in each st around (24)
R8: 1 dec, 2 sc, repeat 6 times (18)
R9: 1 dec, 1 sc, repeat 6 times (12)
R10: 6 dec, (6)

Finish off and fasten off. Before closing remember to stuff firmly and add 12mm eye.

Make another eye and instead of fastening off 

R1-21: sc in each st around (6)

Finish off and fasten off. Before closing remember to stuff firmly. Sew on top of head.

Arms 

With orange

R1: Ch 2 then make 3 sc in second ch from hook (3)
R2: 2 sc in each stitch around (6)
R3: 1 sc , 2 sc in next stitch, (9)

Finish off and fasten off. Make 2. 

Now you are going to join the two arms. Take the first arm and sc in each st around (9). Without cutting yarn join to second arm and make 9 sc around. The total st are 18.

Now you will continue working in rounds.

R2-3: sc in each around (18)

R4: 2 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (24)

R5: 3 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (30)

R6-14: sc in each around (30)

R15:1 dec, 3 sc, repeat 6 times (24)

R16: 1 dec, 2 sc, repeat 6 times (18)
R17: 1 dec, 1 sc, repeat 6 times (12)
R18:1 dec, 2 sc (9)

R19- 42-: sc in each st around (9)

Finish off and fasten off. Before closing remember to stuff firmly.

Sew on the left and right side of body.

Legs

With orange,

Mouth

Ch 13, sl st in second ch from hook and in each st to the end (12)

Fasten off and sew on face.
