Let's Make Stuff Banner

When I spotted this lovely tutorial from I Spy DIY, I immediately thought of turning it into a crochet version! This banner is perfect for a craft room! It's always nice to have some encouragement in order not to lose focus, inspiration and motivation, whatever you are involved in, so I really think that this little project will serve it's cause!:) My banner is already hanging on the wall and every time I look at it I gather energy to keep going! So let's make stuff!

Basically there is no specific pattern! You will just work a triangle shape at the bottom and then continue working in rows back and forth to complete the banner. The letters are made wit black felt; the best way to make them is to draw them out on the felt and then really carefully cut them out! I glued mine on the banner with some fabric glue! I chose to  use a twig I gathered from a walk in the forest to hang it up! I just added some black ribbon on each side and glued it on!

Banner Pattern
With yarn and hook of your choice start by forming a triangle.
Ch3,
Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn (3 sts)
Row 2: 2 sc in first st, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn (5 sts)
Row 3:  2 sc in first st, sc in next two sts, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn (7 sts)
Continue working in this manner until you reach 45 sts.
After that you are going to crochet back and forth in rows. I had 25 rows of 45 sts.
Fasten off. Weave in any ends.

Glue felt letters on your banner. Fold the upper part of the banner around your twig or wooden stick and glue it on. Attach the black ribbon to each side and you're done!
I really love how this turned out! It is such a simple project and another great way to use up bits of yarn to make something look extra special. What do you use to keep motivated? I'd love to hear your ideas and thoughts!
Wishing you a happy weekend!
