This is probably my favorite project that I've ever done. It's three of my most favorite things (crochet, bright colors and bags!) all in one adorable little package. I will say that this might seem a little more advanced of a crochet project, as it is made of the ripple/chevron stitch, but once you get the hang of the stitch it becomes truly easy and fun to work with! If you enjoy a challenge, then you should totally go for it. I mean, look at the results! So worth it.
WHAT YOU NEED:
5 mm (H/8)
To work the ripple/chevron stitch you need to work multiples of 11+1 (+1 for base chain)
I worked 44 chain stitches +1 =45 +1 (for base chain)= 46 stitches in total
You will be working 3 Rows in each color.
Ch 46 (see above)
Row 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, * 1 sc in each of the next 4 ch, sk 2 ch, 1 sc in each of the next 4 ch, 3 sc in next ch;* rep from * to* ending last repetition with 2 sc in last ch, turn
Row 2: ch 1, 2 sc in first st, * 1 sc in each of the next 4 ch, sk 2 ch, 1 sc in each of the next 4 ch, 3 sc in next ch;* rep from * to* ending last repetition with 2 sc in last ch, turn
Repeat the above pattern until bag measures 36cm. or follow the color scheme given below.COLOR SCHEME
You will work 3 rows of each color.
Repeat the above color scheme once more (final Row =48). Fasten off.
Now, let’s bring the clutch together. Fold the bottom up. Fold you bag according to your preferences. Mine measured 36 cm long opened as one piece. I folded it to measure 16 cm long.
Attach yellow yarn and sc around the entire edge of the bag. Make sure that you go through both thicknesses at the sides by single crocheting the sides together. Fasten off and you're done!
Although this might seem a bit of a challenging project it is really fun to work with the amazing soft yarn and the ripple pattern! If you decide to give it a go I would definitely like to see and you can share a photo on Facebook or Twitter!
Enjoy the rest of your day!
