Crochet Spring Tulips

I'm not sure if I had mentioned that tulips are one of my favorite flowers! I ahve been playing with the idea of crocheting a bunch in vibrant colors for quite a while now and so here they are! I really loved making them and they would definititely make a lovely decoration for your home or even as a gift (Mother's Day is not dar away)!

Materials:
Various shades of 100% cotton yarn (I used Drops Paris)
3.5 mm (E) crochet hook
skewers for the stem
yarn needle
a bit of glue

Pattern:
For the tulip/petals:
Using yarn in your color choice and 3.5mm (E) hook:
ch 12
R1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next, 2 hdc in next 2 sts, 3 dc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next 2 sts, 1 sc in next  st, 3 sc in last st (turning point) you will continue crocheting the other way of the chain following the exact same sts. Sl st in 1st sc, ch 1
R2: sc in same st as sl.st. 1 sc in next, 3 hdc in next 3 sts, 3 hdc in next st, 3 hdc in next 3 sts, 1 sc in next st, 3 sc in last st, (turning point) you will continue crocheting the other way of the chain following the exact same sts. Sl st in 1st sc, ch 1
R3: sc in each st across, when reaching the last st, inc, continue crocheting the other way of the chain following the exact same sts. Sl st in 1st sc, ch 1.Fasten off.
This is your first petal. Make another 2 following the exact same pattern for each!
Assembly of tulip:
Grab your 1st petal and pinch the bottom part.Take your 2nd petal and place next to the first by sewing together.
Grab your 3rd petal and sew it in front of te other two!
Done!

Stem:
Grab your skewer, put some glue on and start wrapping green colored yarn around it! Push the skewer into the lower part of the tulip, by glueing it on!

Leaf:
Using green yarn and 3.5mm (E) crochet hook:
Ch 19
R1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next, hdc in next, 1 dc in next 13 sts, 2 dc in next st, 1 hdc in next, 1 sc in next 2 sts, inc  (turning point) you will continue crocheting the other way of the chain following the exact same sts. Sl st in 1st sc, ch 1
R2: sc in each st across, when reaching the last st, inc, continue crocheting the other way of the chain following the exact same sts. Sl st in 1st sc, ch 1.Fasten off.
Attach to stem!
I hope you like my spring colorful tulips! What have you been working on?
Wishing you a happy Thursday!

  1. Love it! Thank you for this great pattern.
Being Dutch I seem to have it in my genes to love tulips. :) Unfortunately living in Ireland where tulips are oh so expensive this would be the perfect solution for my tulips craving.

  8. Beautiful pattern. Could you clarify round 2, as I encountered some troubles with stitch count on the first side of the leaf.

    1. Hello,

Yes of course! Basically you sc up to last st, inc in last st, do not turn but continue crocheting on the bottom part of the original chs.
Again sc up to last st, inc in last st, sl st to first st, and fasten off.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions, I'd be happy to help out!:)
