Crochet slippers & a mini heart

Autumn is slowly making its appearance  here in the northern part of  Greece. The weather has changed getting more chilly everyday! So why not take care of these cold feet and prepare them for a little coziness?:) I actually love making crochet slippers; I must admit they make me feel so happy plus they give you an extra feeling of comfort and snug!:)  I alos thought of making a little heart just for fun!

These slippers were made in an afternoon and are actually quite easy, suitable for beginners at crochet! I used  100% merino wool in pink  and grey, and the feeling is super soft and cozy! I made these slippers in a similar way to my other crochet slippers. The heart was made with 100% cotton yarn.

Crochet Slippers
4.5 mm (7) for slipper body 5.00mm (H) for slipper edging
With color of your choice, ch 2
R1:5 HDC in 2nd ch from hook (5)
R2:2 HDC in each st around (10)
R3: 2 HDC in each st around (20)
R4: *1HDC, 2 HDC in next st* repeat 10 times (30)
R5-10: HDC around (30)
If you want to make a two tone slipper change color at beginning of R7.
R11:Now, you're going to be working back and forth in ROWS. Ch 3, DC in second st from hook and continue until you have 21 stitches, leaving 8unworked. Ch 3, turn.
R12-20: Repeat R11
R21-22: Ch 3, DC in same st, DC to the end, ch3 turn.
Fasten off and sew together by fold the end in half . Make sure it’s turned with the seam facing inward.. Attach new yarn at the top edge of the slipper
Ch  2, *sc in next st, ch 1* continue this pattern along the egde of your slipper. Fasten off.

That's it! I must note these slippers are made to fit my feet. In order to adjust the slippers to your shoe size, change the number of rounds 5-10 (increase the st for example)  and 12-21 (adjust the length).

Mini Heart
3.00 mm (D/E)
With color of your choice, ch 2
R1: sc 6 times in 2nd ch from hook (6)
R2: sc twice in each st (12)
R 3: * sc twice in next st, sc in next st. Repeat from * 5 times (18)
You will join the two pieces that you just crocheted together.
R4: Join new strand of yarn. Sc in each st of the last round of piece 1. Without
cutting or turning, sc in each st of the last round of piece 2. (36)
R5-7: sc in each st (36)
R8: *scdec, sc in next 4 sts. Repeat from * 5 times (30)
R9: *scdec, sc in next 3 sts. Repeat from * 5 times (24)
R10: *scdec, sc in next 2 sts. Repeat from * 5 times (18)
Start stuffing your heart.
R11:*scdec, sc in next 1 st. Repeat from * 5 times (12)
R12:*scdec. Repeat from * 5 times (6)
Fasten off and sew closed! Admire your little heart.
I hope you like my new slippers as much as I do! Have you made anything to welcome the new season?

    2. YouTube! My mom taught me two VERY basic stitches (chain and single crochet) and any new stitches that show up in projects, I just look up the stitches on YouTube. Trust me, it will take some time to get the hang of it (my first hat turned out to be more like a lumpy doily), but it's so fun, rewarding, and relaxing in the long run. Best of luck to you! :)

  9. Are you joining with a slip stitch at the end of each round for the toe?

    1. No, you continue in the round without slip stitching!

  10. I love that little heart! But in trying to follow the pattern I am really confused. Do you make the first 3 rounds twice tying off each time? Do you ever turn the work? Ahh! My ability to read a pattern has never been strong.

  14. I am not quite understanding Row 11. When you chain 3 it says to DC in in second chain from hook. does this mean to DC in the second chain of the chain 3 or the second crochet from the hook in the round?

You have to crochet in the second st from the hook NOT the chain! Good luck!

    1. Yes, this is correct! You increase from 20 sts to 30 sts on this row! Let me know if you need any more help, I 'd be happy to help!

  19. Thank you. Have progressed onto row 11 and wondered if you could explain this? Is it UK DC? And how to I create 21 stitches? Sorry if I'm not getting it haha

    1. No all terms are in my patterns are American.
So Row 11 says, to work back and forth in row, you are no longer working in the round. From the point you left on on Round 11, turn, Ch 3, work a DC in the second st from hook and continue working DCs until you have 21 stitches, leaving 8 stitches unworked. Ch 3, turn.
      Work R12-20 by repeating R11.

Let me know if this is helpful! Happy crocheting!
