{Monkey Business - A free crochet pattern}

As browsing the net I came upon a picture of the cutest monkey ever and decided to create an amigurumi monkey!
I have already expalined the definition of Amigurumi in my teddy pattern, so if you're not familiar with what Amigurumi is go and check it out!
So this is the picture I stumbled upon and based my pattern on!
After a lot of trial and error, a lot of chaining and unchaining I finally finished him and was happy with the outcome!
MATERIALS:
  • Red and beige acrylic yarn
  • 3 mm crochet hook 
  • Yarn needle
  • Black embroidery floss
  • Safety eyes 
  • Fibrefill
  • Stitch marker (optional)
HEAD:
Start with beige yarn:
R1: Ch 2 then make 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)
R2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)
R3: 1 sc , 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (18)
R4: 2 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (24)
R5: 3 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (30)
R6: 4 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (36)
R7: 5 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (42)
Change to red yarn:
R8: 6 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (48)
R9-10: sc around (48)
R11: 1 dec, 6 sc, repeat 6 times (42)
R12: 1 dec, 5 sc, repeat 6 times (36)
R13: 1 dec, 4 sc, repeat 6 times (30)
R14: 1 dec, 3 sc, repeat 6 times (24)
Attach the safety eyes. Begin to stuff your head.
R15: 1 dec, 2 sc, repeat 6 times (18)
Continue to stuff.
R16: 1 dec, 1 sc, repeat 6 times (12)
R 17: 6 dec (6)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

MUZZLE:
With beige yarn:
R1: Ch 2 then make 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)
R2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)
R3: 1 sc , 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (18)
R4: 2 sc, 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (24)
R5-6: sc around (24)
R7: 1 dec, 2 sc, repeat 6 times (18)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Embroider nose and mouth and attach to head.

EAR x2:
Start with beige yarn:
R1: Ch 2 then make 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)
R2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)
Change to red yarn:
R3: 1 sc , 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (18)
R4: sc around (18)
R5: 1 dec, 1 sc, repeat 6 times (12)
R6: 6 dec (6)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Stuff your ears and attach to head.

BODY:
Start with beige yarn:
R1: Ch 7 then sc in 2nd chain from hook until the end. Do not turn but continue to sc at the bottom part of your starting chain. (12)
R2: 2 sc in first stitch, 1sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch, 1sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next, 2 sc in next (18)
R3: 2sc in first stitch , 1 sc in next 4 stitches, 2sc in next, 1 sc in next stitch, 2sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next 4 stitches,  2sc in next, 1 sc in next stitch, 2sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next stitch (24)
Change to red yarn:
R4: 2sc in first stitch  sc in next two stitches , 1 sc in next 5 stitches, 2sc in next, 1 sc in next 2 stitches , 2sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next 2 stitches sc in next two stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next 5 stitches,  2sc in next, 1 sc in next 2 stitches, 2sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next 2 stitches (30)
R5: 2sc in first stitch , 1 sc in next 6 stitches, 2sc in next, 1 sc in next 3 stitches, 2sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next 6 stitches,  2sc in next, 1 sc in next 3 stitches, 2sc in next stitch, 1 sc in next 3stitches  (36)
R6-9:  sc around (36)
Begin to stuff your body.
R10: 1 dec, 4 sc, repeat 6 times (30)
R11: sc around (30)
R12: 1 dec, 3 sc, repeat 6 times (24)
R13: 1 dec, 2 sc, repeat 6 times (18)
Continue to stuff.
R14: 1 dec, 1 sc, repeat 6 times (12)
R 15: 6 dec (6)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

ARMS x2:
Start with beige yarn:
R1: Ch 2 then make 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)
R2: 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 2 stitches, repeat 1 time (8)
R3: sc around (8)
R4: 2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 3 stitch, repeat 1 time (10)
Change to red yarn:
R5-17 : sc around (10)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Stuff your arms and attach to body.

LEGS x2:
Start with beige yarn:
R1: Ch 2 then make 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)
R2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)
R3: 1 sc , 2 sc in next stitch, repeat 6 times (18)
R4: sc around (18)
R5: 1 dec, 1 sc, repeat 6 times (12)
Change to red yarn:
R6-11:sc around (12)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Stuff your legs and attach to body.

TAIL:
Start with red yarn:
R1: Ch 2 then make 6 sc in second ch from hook (6)
R2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12)
R3: sc around (12)
Change to beige yarn:
R4-6: sc around (12)
Change to red yarn:
R7-14: sc around (12)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Stuff your tail and attach to body.

  3. This is great! I think I found an error in row 4 of the body. It says "2 sc in next 2 stitches" and I think it should be 1 sc in next two stitches. This way it comes out to 30 rather than 32 as you noted it should. Thanks again for posting :)
